It's V-Day

No guys, it's too early for Valentine's Day. It was Vomit Day yesterday. My "hao-jiak" daughter had a lot to eat yesterday. How much you ask?

We were at Ya Kun at Parkway last night with Uncle Gerald and Auntie Vivian and Renee started choking on some soya bean milk, then she started coughing. Coughing brought about gagging and just about everything she ate before we picked her up after work. Mummy saw some mee tai mak, some cheese, milk and some unidentified brown stuff. When I asked her grandparents this morning and listed out what you threw out, I found out she ate THREE slices of cheese! And that she insisted on eating everything available! Goodness!! Renee has her Daddy's makan genes....It's hard to stop her when she proudly declare everything "mine", with a determined, convincing, pounding on her chest. Sigh.

Which brings me to another question: How do you say "no" to a 2 year old and enforce it? Do they understand the meaning of "no" and "stop it"? And do you punish them if they don't listen? If we let this go on, will she turn into a spoilt brat? How do you teach them to share? From my conversation with a few Principals of schools we visited, I learn that biting and scratching is very common at this age. Reason? They don't know how to verbalise what they want to say. Already, we witness snatching and tantrums when the kids get together for Fight Club. How will Renee handle it when she is at school on her own? Am I getting cold feet about sending her next Monday? Principal Absah says if we pull her out half way, she may think she can have her way when she enters nursery or primary school later on. That's a really good point. A simple point but we just don't realise it. We learn everyday, don't we?

aoecxFYI, your concern is so close to heart. My sis, whose kid is the same age as urs is showing all the signs you mentioned. She's fighting over toys with my gal now and everything is "Mine!"....
My sis also dun know how to teach... i guess we have to learn as we go along. Nobody is born to be a good mum... we are all learning now....
