Finally!! After over a year of relying on milk to get Renee to sleep at night, I have completely cut out that habit and she falls asleep on her own. It wasn't plain sailing I tell you. There were lots of protests, yelling and screaming but towards the last part of this "cleansing" program, when she was calmer, she would listen to me and understand my promise. I promised that she would get her milk upon waking up every morning and she would nod her head like she was processing my words and just go to sleep. Wow. Powerful.
Now, I just need my MIL to understand that she really doesn't need milk every night to fall asleep. During dinner, she will insist Renee EATS EATS EATS because "Mummy not going to give you milk tonight, you know?" I feel like a thousand daggers heading my way, even though the words are not meant for me (or are they?). Hmm....
I vaguely remember how this darned habit started. Renee was only about 18 months and she wouldn't fall asleep when we had some guests over for mahjong. After an hour of resisting sleep, Eugene gave her a bottle and of course she welcomed it, she fell asleep promptly after that. So from then on, that horrible habit became part of our lives.
It was only recently that my good friend YY recommended us a book on sleep associations that I decided to start cut out the habit. It was bad for her teeth as well, having milk pooling in her mouth and not brushing after her bottle. I didn't read the whole book just the parts that were relevant to me but the parts that I did read meant a lot! So thanks YY!

Ferris Wheel
Well, it's the Singapore Flyer but ever since it was ready, Renee has been calling it the Ferris Wheel. Everytime we pass it, she gets sooooo excited.
The past weekend, we went to Aloha Loyang for our company gathering and all spouses and family were invted. When we passed Downtown East, Renee saw a miniature Ferris Wheel and I promised to let her sit in it. But I was a bit hesitant to fork out some good 'ol cash for the fake thing so I suggested that we should all go sit on the big one. Wah, all hell broke loose. "No!! I don't want to sit the big one!!!" Cried till she fell asleep and just as she woke, we reached the Singapore Flyer......and of all days that we decide to do some cheesy touristy thing, I didn't bring the camera!! sheesh!!! So the following shots are from my handphone - not too bad lah!

KK A&E
11 months after Renee visited the A&E, it was Russell's turn.
I was really uncomfortable seeing Russell not moving as much so I said I wanted to bring him to the doctor. He was having trouble getting up, he would just lay there till we helped him to a sitting position. Very scary, I tell you. So my in-laws brought him to KK Hospital yesterday afternoon.....
Fracture.......sling...........see picture
Last evening when I went home, he was having a nap and he just lay there with the sling, my heart was so heavy.
Lessons to be learnt:
1) Your child is your responsibility, no one elses
2) Other people are not obligated to take care of your child and it is not their fault if there are any mishaps
Russell's fall is 100% our fault as we did not give him the 100% attention he deserved.
Question: How do you give 2 kids 100% of your attention?
Answer: We need 2 adults to give 2 kids 100% attention each
At least he managed to give me a smile......
