Have to stay away from what!?!?!

Visited Dr. Chen last evening for my 24 week check up. Baby was showing off his hand!

Told her about my experience with the pulling feeling in my abdomen, she said I'd over-exerted myself. I need to take it slow. Sure, I'd like that too. But with the CNY coming, we still got lots of spring cleaning to do!!! We haven't bought our cookies and oranges, which by the way, she said I cannot eat because of my cough. :(

Left the kids at my inlaws last night expecting to sleep well. I was ironing till 12 plus and don't know why I just couldn't fall asleep the whole night. I woke up at 7.15am, mopped the floor before getting ready for work.

Around 3.30pm, I started paying for it. My eyes are shutting down on its own.

Hopefully I get to sleep in tomorrow....till 8 am? please?

Feeling the strain

Yes, I admit it, I'm really starting to feel the strain of taking care of two kids and carrying a little one inside me.

The weekend that just past, I endeavoured to make a couple of recipes taken from Jessica Seinfeld's book called Deceptively Delicious. The concept is to hide pureed vegetables in foods so the kids get their nutrition without their knowledge. So I started off with the easy pancakes with Sweet Potatoes on Saturday. That's right! At first I thought, "what the hell?" How gross! But it turned out really yummy! Russell enjoyed the pancakes, Renee complained about the black parts, charred because I was trying to do too many things at once. Those kids are gung-ho from the moment they open their eyes at 7.15am in the morning!

Yes why can't they wake up early on weekdays when they need to go to school? But on weekends, they get up at 7 plus, LIKE CLOCKWORK!!! I long for a day that I can sleep till 8 am! I'm not being greedy, I'm not even asking for 9 am!!!

Anyway, on top of honey, Eugene decided he NEEDED to add his required peanut butter on top of the already sweet pancakes.

On Sunday morning, I made these yummy chicken nuggets coated with brocoli and a side dish of mashed potatoes with cauliflower. Yup, sounds super gross but turned out pretty yummy. The thing I gotta figure out is how to keep the stuff warm/hot while I'm preparing the other dish. Also, the nuggets turned out greenish because of the brocoli. Of course Eugene decided he needed go for a jog while the stuff was cooking so by the time he sat down to eat with me, the food wasn't hot anymore.

That afternoon, we ventured to Millenia Walk to get some cushion covers from British India. I'd seen them some weekends ago but I didn't take down the size of my cushions so we couldn't get them the last time. Picking 4 covers took more than an hour! Two kids running around, one kid wanting to go to the bathroom to poo, I tell you, I was so thankful Russell fell asleep mid way. I ended up carrying him while Eugene checked for stains/symmetry! On the way back, Renee fell asleep.

By the time both of them got up from their nap, it was 7 pm and we headed out for dinner. I was feeling so much discomfort around my lower belly, I couldn't really walk properly. Renee was a good girl, staying with me and holding my hand as I stumbled along. I couldn't really eat my noodles, so I just watched the three of them downing their hokkien mee and satay.

Anyway, by the time we got home, I felt slightly better and gave the kids their baths. Russell likes to turn on the tap BEFORE he takes off his clothes! Sheesh! So I got all wet before anything! And they have started pumping our shower gel to "help" me wash the glass panel - EVERY DAY.

By the time they fell asleep, it was 11.15pm. I was dead-tired! But baby was kicking furiously; it's like he's telling me he wants to be part of the naughty bunch.

I just want to close my eyes right now!

18th January 2011

I don't know how else to name this post, except that it's already 18th January 2011! It's only days to the CNY! I'm so looking forward to meeting up with friends, eating and just resting that whole week.

The kids are in their third week of school, however each of them missed a couple of days due to having a cough, which I must have passed to them! I've been coughing for over a month. Been through bottles of pregnancy safe medicine and antibiotics. Still coughing, but slightly better. I pray it will go away before the CNY so I can enjoy it properly.

The kids are now attending the 8 am session. With this new time slot, I've had to wake up at 6.45am to get myself ready before getting the kids to wake up at 7.10am. My inlaws will usually reach around 7.30am to pick the kids up to head to school. First day was a miracle! Renee actually woke up before I was done in the shower! After that, it was all downhill. It has been really difficult trying to get them wake up, firstly, and secondly to get their uniforms on. Why, oh why, did I decide to put them in the 8 am class!!!???
Renee was ok from the beginning. I'd wait outside her class the first two days and she'd shoo me off. "Mummy, go see what didi is doing". Russell was pretty ok the first two days too, when FIL, MIL and I were nearby. Third to fifth day, he didn't want them to leave his sight. Almost the whole of the second week, he had to miss class as the doctor advised us to keep him away and rest at home. This third week has been pretty good, he'd take the teacher's hand and proceed with the class to wherever! Yeah!

We've been having an issue with the TV recently. After the last term ended, Renee's been addicted to the TV. Inlaws are unable to pull her away from it. I had to put my foot down the other day and just unplugged the TV. 6 hours of TV in one sitting is unacceptable!

Ok, gotta go. Cough mixture is blurring me out. I am not sure what I am typing anymore!
