Riley turns 1

Yeah, we can't believe it either! We celebrated Riley's birthday a day earlier at Cafe Mosaic at Carlton Hotel. We were still unsure whether to have a big party or just a little one with just our family. In the end, I felt bad that we didn't have one for his full month like we did for Russell and Renee. We also had a big first birthday party for them so I guess we should celebrate the joyous ocassion for Riley too!

Russell wasn't feeling well, in fact he was having a pretty high fever right up to us leaving the house for the hotel. I felt so bad for him as he literally sat out the whole party, never before have we seen him so tame. Well after resting the entire afternoon and through the night, he woke up on Sunday morning and was raring to go! Eugene caught the flu bug as well and was out whole of Sunday, drifting in and out of sleep while I battled to keep my eyes open from waking at 6 am! I managed to last all the way till 11.30pm without any sleep. By then Riley caught the bug and he and Russell took turns to wake up through Monday morning. I don't know how I managed to get up to get to work. It is one of those days that I wish I could just sleep in but I can't as my colleague is on leave the whole of this week. ARGH!

I managed to get a 3D cake from a lady called Prima, she did a pretty good job with the rabbit theme that I requested. Renee had a dog, Russell had a mouse and Riley had to have a rabbit cake! The chocolate with meringue and butter cream was really yummy. At first I thought what a waste because the buffet already had a huge spread of dessert but I couldn't go without "THE CAKE".

Anyways, here are some pictures from the party.
I didn't realise having 45 adults and 20 kids all glaring at you can be quite scary. That must explain his facial expression!

Riley is the only one who has started walking before turning 1! It's so cute to see him shaking his bon-bon while walking unsteadily at first then getting faster as he gets more and more excited at his freedom!
